Auto Accident pain can be treated safely by a Chiropractor
Anyone visiting or living in Collier County, whether year round or seasonally is aware of how congested and dangerous our traffic is, especially during season. In 2021, According to the Department of Florida Highway
Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 5,912 crashes in Collier County resulting
in 3,461 injuries. These crashes involved automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians.1
Getting into an accident can be a life disturbing and overwhelming experience. The first few days are filled with shock and confusion. You could be sore, maybe you had a hospital visit, and you are not sure what your insurance will cover. Who was at fault for the accident that happened so quickly? If you had a passenger, how do they get treatment if they are injured? How do you handle your insurance and what companies do you even call, yours or the other drivers? If you did not go to the hospital or urgent care and you are starting to feel stiff and sore all over, where do you go?
Chiropractic is an effective treatment modality for whiplash injuries from a crash. A whiplash injury is caused by a rapid acceleration deceleration to the neck causing the head to whip forward and backwards in seconds. This causes damage to the facet joints in the neck.2 When the facet joints are injured, this affects the nerves, muscles, ligaments and tendons surrounding them. Chiropractors specifically manipulate or adjust the damaged facet joints to help to start the healing process.
Chiropractic is an effective treatment modality for whiplash injuries from a crash. In 1999, researchers from the United Kingdom did a study of 93 patients who were suffering with chronic whiplash injuries. Their concern was the conventional treatment of these chronic injuries was disappointing. The patients were treated only with spinal manipulations (adjustments) an average of 19.3 treatments over a period of 4.1 months. The results showed that 69 of the 93 patients or 74% improved.3
I would be happy to help you start your road to recovery. I have helped numerous patients over the years recover from the injuries associated with auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents and pedestrian accidents such as being hit by a car in a parking lot or crossing the street. Common injuries and complaints after an accident are neck, mid, low back pain, shoulder pain, pain shooting down the arms or legs, headaches, nausea, ringing in the ears, dizziness and fatigue. These complaints may take a while to set in or you could experience them immediately.
I will guide you through the process and assess your neck, back and any other complaints. It is very important to get evaluated as soon as possible. Diagnostic testing is typically warranted to rule out more serious injuries such as fracture. Starting treatment earlier will help some of the initial onset severity. Over time, I will help you return to feeling like yourself because my office provides kind, compassionate, effective and thorough care.
